Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra to aid in Haitian earthquake relief
The musicians of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, in a show of support and sympathy for the people of Haiti, will open the January 28th concert at First Baptist New Orleans with the Haitian national anthem. Cash, check and credit card donations to assist the Red Cross’ relief effort will be accepted before the concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., and during intermission. Checks should be made out to the American Red Cross, with “Haiti” in the memo.
Immediately following the Haitian national anthem, Music Director Carlos Miguel Prieto will take the stage for the remainder of the concert which features LPO principal oboist Jaren Philleo performing Mozart’s Oboe Concert. Also on the program will be selections from Stravinsky’s famous ballet, Petrushka and Grieg’s Suite No. 1 from Peer Gynt.
